The Official Dyer MPVI Close & Handoff

The last 10 seconds of your video matter as much as the first 10. Dyer has an official close — same words, every time. Use it, then send your notes to the advisor so they can take it from there.

Lesson Objective

Close every video with the official Dyer language, then pass the right notes back to the advisor so they can call the customer within the 15-minute SOP window.

The Official Script — Close

Official Dyer MPVI Close:

"Overall your vehicle is in [great / good] shape. I've documented everything and your advisor will review options with you. Thanks for trusting us with your vehicle."

That's the close. Same way, every time. Customers learn the rhythm — they hear it and know the video is ending professionally.

Why This Close Works

Three Things Happening in 10 Seconds
  1. Positive frame. "Overall your vehicle is in great/good shape" — even when there are red items, the overall framing acknowledges what's working on the vehicle. Customers respond to that.
  2. "I've documented everything." Reinforces the transparency promise from the opening. You're not hiding anything; you're not pushing anything.
  3. "Your advisor will review options with you." Clean handoff. Customer knows what comes next. You're not selling — they are.

Filling In the Bracket

Only one bracket in the close: great or good. Pick honestly:

Vehicle statusUse
All green or mostly green — minimal recommendationsgreat shape
Some yellow items, no urgent redsgood shape
One red item that needs prompt attentiongood shape (still — acknowledge what's working)
Multiple reds, significant issuesAdjust honestly — see alternate close below

Examples — Filling It In

All-green close:

"Overall your vehicle is in great shape. I've documented everything and your advisor — Mike — will review options with you. Thanks for trusting us with your vehicle."

Standard close with a yellow:

"Overall your vehicle is in good shape — those tires we talked about are the main item to plan for. I've documented everything and your advisor will review options with you. Thanks for trusting us with your vehicle."

Close with a red item (still acknowledge what's working):

"Overall your vehicle is in good shape — the brakes are the one item that needs attention. I've documented everything and your advisor will review options with you. Thanks for trusting us with your vehicle."

Alternate — when the vehicle genuinely has multiple serious issues:

"Your vehicle has a few items that need attention — I've covered each one in this video. I've documented everything and your advisor will review options with you. Thanks for trusting us with your vehicle."

Video Slot · Coming Soon
The official close, delivered four ways
Suggested script: 60 seconds — four 15-second clips of the same tech delivering the official close in four scenarios (all-green, yellow, red, multiple issues). Show how the same words adapt to the situation honestly.

What NOT to Say at the End

"So... yeah... that's about it."

Trail-off ending. The script exists so you don't trail off. Use it.

"You're going to want to get this fixed ASAP or something bad will happen."

Pressure language at the close undoes all the trust you built. The script keeps it calm.

"This is going to be expensive but it has to be done."

Price is the advisor's job. You don't quote, you don't pre-qualify, you don't soften the price for them. The script handoff line — "your advisor will review options with you" — is the clean handoff.

"I don't know what they're going to charge but it'll be a lot."

Same issue. The script avoids this entirely. Use it.

Pass the Right Notes Back

The video is half the handoff. The other half is the notes you send the advisor — and per the Dyer SOP, the advisor has 15 minutes to call the customer once the MPI is sent. Make those 15 minutes easier with good notes.

After every MPI:

The Closing Checklist

Manager Coaching Tip

Review the last 10 seconds of every video for a week. If the close trails off, freelances, or includes pricing, it's coachable in 30 seconds. The official close is the easiest part of the video to standardize across the whole team. Consistent closes = consistent customer experience.
